Many folks find this blog via my post on Adding a Sync Port to a 580 Flash. Well, my friend Lon has begun marketing a 580EX Replacement Foot with a Sync Port preinstalled through his FlashZebra website. Now all it takes to add a sync port to your Canon Speedlight is about 10 minutes and a screwdriver.
The swap is simple and his product comes with a highly detailed & illustrated instruction set. I got to preview the instructions & watched as various members of our Camera Club followed them to see if they could successfully perform the swap. Everyone involved felt that the instructions were solid and that the actual replacement was a piece of cake.
Even better is that if you return your original foot assembly in good condition FlashZebra will refund you a portion of your purchase price. This is a great way to get a sync port added onto your flash without having to break out a drill or soldering iron!
