Rounding Third and Heading for Home...

I got a call early last week from someone who was looking for a photograph of Great American Ball Park to give as a gift to her sister for Christmas. Turns out she's a big fan of the Cincinnati Reds and especially of the late, great Joe Nuxhall. The main request was to have Nuxhall's famous phrase "Rounding Third and Heading for Home" featured in the picture.

I didn't have anything in my library that fit the bill, but I was able to get out and shoot early one morning...Rounding Third and Heading for Home - Joe Nuxhall - Great American Ballpark - Cincinnati Reds Baseball StadiumFortunately I caught a break in our typically dreary Cincinnati winter weather and had a decent looking sky. I did have to employ some HDR techniques in order to get a decent exposure, but that's just the reality of the situation. It was either that or have a blown out, pure white sky!

While I was there I shot a few other subjects nearby, but didn't spend too much time. One that I particularly like is this black and white of the stadium lights:Stadium Lights in Black and White - Great American Ballpark - Cincinnati Reds Baseball StadiumHitting the road early tomorrow morning to visit my folks in Cleveland... I heard that there won't be a lot of snow there this week, but I guess we'll soon see. (For the record, snow doesn't really bother me - it's the fact that people seem to have a hard time driving in it (and yet insist to drive in it anyway) that makes me nuts.)

Hey! we were up on the west side of Cleveland Saturday, Ms. 5chw4r7z's relatives are up there. Made it back down to Akron/Canton and my parents in time for the snow to hit there big time.
Really awkward football game Sunday, watching in Canton, I wanted the Browns to win but couldn't help cheering for the Bengals who tried to do everything possible to lose the game but the Browns wouldn't cooperate.
