Blogger Tour of the Gateway Quarter

Yesterday afternoon I joined several other Cincinnati Bloggers for a private tour of the Gateway Quarter developments in the Over The Rhine section of Downtown Cincinnati. We all met up at the Q Information Center to get an overview of the project and then we went out to check out the progress.

It was great to meet a lot of the local bloggers - many of whom I've emailed with quite a bit but haven't actually met in person! Nice to put a face to the name. Hopefully someone will pull together a list of all of the participants that I can link to... UPDATE: Indeed, someone has! Check out Lisa's great writeup of this event right here.

Also impressive is how quickly this development has progressed. There's a lot of debate in the city as to whether or not this is a good thing - my opinion is that it most certainly is. Many of the buildings being renovated are completely abandoned and nearly entirely worthless (FWIW, there are a lot of buildings in that area that can be bought for *very* little money - we're talking less than $20k). Someone coming in to revitalize the area & stimulate the downtown economy is a good thing and exactly what is needed in this city.

To check out more of the images from that event, please see my gallery of photos from the Gateway Quarter Tour. You may also be interested in my blog post from before when I took a tour of the Q last year...

Thanks to Kevin from Building Cincinnati for getting this group together!
